Set the current before the saw
Ocean Brown is directional. Long cream veins run through a mid-brown field, and the face reads differently when that movement runs with a room, turns across it or opens into a mirror on a wall. The vein direction belongs on the setting out drawing before the slabs are cut.
The distance between veins and the balance of cream against brown change through the block. Review the open slabs, approve the actual lot and number the pieces through cutting so the intended sequence survives to installation.

Slab for continuity, tile for repetition
Slab keeps the cream current continuous across a reception front, vanity, counter or feature wall. Adjacent slabs can continue the vein or open into a book match, but both results depend on preserving the order in which the stone came off the block.
Tile is the practical format for floors, stairs and repeating wall modules. It restarts the vein at every joint, so a dry layout matters: pieces can be turned into one agreed direction or mixed deliberately, but they should not arrive at the floor as an accident.

Finish changes the depth of the brown
A polished face deepens the mid-brown ground and makes the parallel cream veins read at maximum contrast. It suits walls, counters and dry internal floors where the directional figure is meant to be seen clearly.
Honing removes the reflection and lifts the brown slightly, giving a quieter surface that hides fine wear more easily. Bush hammered, antique, flamed, acid and saw cut finishes add texture for steps and exposed work. Approve the proposed finish on the selected lot, and use neutral cleaners because marble remains vulnerable to acidic spills.

- Does Ocean Brown need a laying direction?
- Yes. Its long cream veins run through the slab in a clear direction. Mark that direction on the setting out drawing, preserve the slab sequence through cutting and dry lay tiles before fixing. A wall can continue the movement or be planned as a book match.
- Is Ocean Brown available as both slab and tile?
- Yes. Slabs preserve the long cream movement across counters, vanities and feature walls. Tiles cut the same selected lot into repeating modules for floors, stairs and wall cladding. Availability and usable dimensions depend on the current lot.
- Which finish shows Ocean Brown most strongly?
